Brattleboro is a vibrant and thriving community that hosts a wide range of artistic venues and educational opportunities. Yet, Brattleboro sits in the shadow of a nuclear power plant. While this might never pose a problem to you, should there be an accident, all of Brattleboro would likely not be inhabitable for thousands of years. I kinda like Brattleboro, and the sumptious Connecticut River water shed.

It is critically important to divest from our reliance on nuclear power (and all conventional – dirty- forms of electric generation) and look towards a cleaner future. A future where we use our natural resources to generate the energy we need, a future where we use common sense to fully make use of the technology we have in order to conserve energy to the fullest extent possible. Changing lights, upgrading your appliances, re-insulating your home and business, not driving needlessly… These are all great things to do. But there is more!

We need to encourage initiatives to bring hydro and wind power generation facilities on-line. We need state initiatives and rebates for installing Solar heating and PV (Solar Electric) systems, in houses and business. We need more jobs, and those jobs are waiting to be created by this kind of activity.
